We have been actively working in the first half of 2024 to advance our mission and support our members.
In March, we hosted our Annual Administrative and Legislative Day in Sacramento. Since then, our regional chapters, board committees, and Non-Public Agencies group have been diligently meeting and supporting members statewide. Master contract negotiations are currently underway, with CAPSES members benefiting from our expertise and strong relationships with local County Offices of Education and the California Department of Education (CDE).
We take pride in over five decades of dedicated work. Our mission remains steadfast: to maximize the potential of individuals with disabilities by advocating for them in public policy and promoting high-quality instruction, guidance, therapy, and staff development. In alignment with this mission, we have partnered with an Interim Executive Director to reflect on our achievements and plan for a future vision for CAPSES that addresses current needs and possibilities.
Recognizing the importance of ensuring private schools and agencies have a voice, and the challenge parents face in finding suitable special education alternatives, CAPSES has evolved into a highly respected statewide nonprofit association. We are dedicated to upholding high ethical standards and improving the quality of life for special education students. The collective wisdom of our members, the tireless engagement of our board and advocates, and our unwavering commitment to educating every child in California with care and excellence will guide us as we embark on the next half-century of shaping California’s special education policies.
We invite you to share our work and invite others to join in our movement.
Best,Adrienne Kessler.
