As we begin a new quarter, I’m filled with gratitude for the momentum our community continues to build together. Across California, nonpublic schools and agencies are doing extraordinary work to support students with disabilities, work that is only possible when we stay grounded in our shared purpose and the values that guide us forward.
This year, CAPSES has more clearly articulated those beliefs: that our system must evolve to provide equitable access and sustainable funding; that innovation and fresh thinking are essential to meeting today’s challenges; and that a bold, strategic vision is needed to shape the next decade of special education. These beliefs remind us not just of what we stand for, but of what we are capable of creating together.
They also call us into a deeper partnership. We believe this is our moment: a pivotal year to unify, to build trust, and to lead with clarity and courage. These beliefs aren’t just statements; they are our compass. They affirm that every student deserves a learning experience built on dignity, stability, and joy; that families deserve systems worthy of their trust; and that our members deserve the support, clarity, and voice required to deliver life-changing services.
As you read this quarter’s updates, I hope you see how these values are already shaping our advocacy, strengthening our chapters, and elevating the voice of nonpublic schools and agencies statewide. Together, we are charting a future that centers students, honors families, and imagines what is truly possible when a system evolves in the direction of hope.
I hope everyone has a wonderful winter break filled with family, friends, health, and joy.
