What We Do

At CAPSES we support positive policy building by:

Provide a unified voice for non-public schools and agencies serving students with disabilities, as well as provide regular advisories and resources to members to assist in implementing changes in laws, regulations, or public policies that impact non-public schools and agencies, and the children and families they serve.

Advocate with effective results at the federal and state levels of government through the coordination of the CAPSES Governmental Affairs Committee.

Lead efforts that positively impact proposed federal and state legislation, regulations, and public policies on behalf of our members.

Inform and educate members and parents of current legislative and regulatory changes on federal and state levels.

Organizational Priorities
2025-2030

CAPSES’ strategic priorities are essential to advancing our mission and meeting the evolving needs of the sector. Over the next several years, this multi-year strategic plan will serve as the guiding framework for CAPSES’ work.

The plan is built around three core priorities: Proactive Advocacy, Increased and Diversified Revenue, and Timely Responses to Emerging Issues.

Our Regional Role

CAPSES members are organized in regions throughout the State under the leadership of the CAPSES Board of Directors. Each region is coordinated by a Board Member who also serves as the local Regional Representative. This enables the Region Representative to provide timely direct two-way communication of vital information between CAPSES members and the CAPSES Board, as well as provides regularly scheduled opportunities to network and collaborate with other CAPSES members in that region.
