CAPSES delegation had a full day of meaningful meetings in our nation’s capital this past May.Grateful to the National Association of Private Special Education Centers for organizing this important opportunity to elevate the voices of our programs and the families we serve. We had powerful conversations with our California representatives in the House and Senate about the critical role of IDEA and Medicaid in ensuring not just success but the fundamental rights of students with disabilities.

We met with the offices of Representative Gil Cisneros, Representative Judy Chu, Representative Young Kim, Senator, Adam Schiff, Representative Dave Min, Senator Alex Padilla, Representative Kevin Mullin, Representative Sam Liccardo, Representative George Whitesides, and Representative Zoe Lofgren.

Thank you CAPSES members and fellow californians for advocating for federal funding and protections.

CAPSES is happy to have their Government Affairs team present in Washington DC for National Association of Private Special Education Centers (NAPSEC) Legislative Action Days.

It was great to get caught up on Federal updates and chat with Dr. David Cantrell, OSEP Deputy Director at the Department of Education and hear his views about the future of the department, OSEP, and IDEA.

We chatted California Department of Education leadership, L.A. fires, and more.

Thank you for your service, Director Cantrell!
