REGIONAL NETWORKING

CAPSES consists of 14 regions throughout the state operating under the leadership of the CAPSES Board of Directors. Local Board Members and Region Representatives coordinate each region.  This unique structure enables local CAPSES members to gather, meet and discuss issues directly relating to their schools and agencies as well as receive pertinent information regarding state and local public policy (CDE, CTC, SELPAs, LEAs, and state legislation).

Conference

CAPSES CONFERENCE & WORKSHOPS

Administrative/ Legislative Conference, Sacramento

Each year, CAPSES holds Administrator Training Day, Legislative Day and an Annual Conference.  Administrator Training Day and Legislative Day are held each in Sacramento, CA.  Sessions include public policy, and state and federal legislation, updates from the California Department of Education, and Capitol Advisors.   Nonpublic school and agency administrators are encouraged to attend. 

The CAPSES Virtual Workshops are half day sessions of dynamic content combining the most up-to-date information and best practices.  The top leaders from the frontlines of special education speak on topics including administration, curriculum, behavior, and therapy.  Nonpublic school and agency administrators and service providers are encouraged to attend.

TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE

The CAPSES Association Manager, Board Members and Consultants are available by phone or email, as well as through region meetings to assist CAPSES Member Nonpublic Schools and Agencies with understanding current federal and state budgets, laws, regulations, and public policies. Members of our Governmental Affairs Committee have specialized knowledge regarding Special Education and Related Services.  Articles (and source documents) regarding the impact of proposed legislation, regulations, and public policy are a regular feature of our Newsletter, sent to Member Schools and Agencies.
